I was told by a very experienced MTB rider that this was the best and most highly engieered light for MTB's, so I bought it.
He was right.!
I ride on some very technical vertically exposed single track where mistakes lead to ER visits (don't ask how I know this) or worse. With this light I am able to safely ride at normal speeds well into the night. Other lights I tried were not bright or wide enough and required much slower riding. The wide beam is essential on curvy single track rides. It also lasts long enough for my multi-hour rides and has excellent charge indication led's. If it does run low it dims but does not go out suddenly. A great safety feature.
I did have an issue with the hex nut on the quick release system vibrating lose so remember to tighten when you check your other bike bolts. As a result I lost the light while it was on the car rack. I purchased another as I am not going night riding without it. I asked for a replacement nut so I could have mounts on both of my bikes.
The Customer Service team was exceptional. They immediately shipped a replacement mount for free and gave me a partial refund for the second purchase. Unexpected! A great product and an excellent company.

My riding crew has these lights and loved them. Peer pressure got the best of me. Finally went out on a cold night to ride just to see what the fuss was all about. Absolutely love these! Everything that is said about these light ring true. Worth it!

Lights are amazing. They hold a great charge, even in 15-20° temps. Work as they should and seen to be very durable and well made
Like everyone else has said, they offer extremely high quality products but I can’t tell you the longevity of the product as I’ve only had it a month now but I can’t tell it’ll last a long time. One of my favourite parts is the mounting bracket is almost identical to GoPro so and attachments you have for go pro, this light will fit onto.
Outbound lighting is just perfect for all your biking needs. My portal and hangover make my night mtb rides a blast.
I’ve been a daily bike commuter for >10 years and I regularly go on long rides (gravel and road) on weekends. I’ve used multiple combinations of various lights over the years, most recently switching between a Niterider and Cygolite. Each has its pros (bright, multiple modes, lightweight) and cons (poor mounting, heavy, blinding to on coming traffic). I have been using the Detour light mounted with the action camera mount for the past 3 weeks. It has been great so far and combines the pros of my other lights without so much of the cons. The mount is solid, the quick release is secure. Some reviews have dinged it for being more finicky than expected but I have found it to be no more so than my other lights, just different. It has tight tolerance so there’s no disconcerting rattle. The cutoff beam works well. Again some feel disappointed that it is not as sharp as they expected but in my opinion it does the job well. To me the cutoff doesn’t have to look like a clear laser cut line on a wall; it works as intended. I also like the wide beam pattern (better than my lights or those of other commuters I see). I really appreciate the thoughtful day and night commuter patterns. I highly recommend.

I haven't run it down completely but lasted plenty long for an aggressive hour and change of single track. My only complaint is probably not this lights problem but..... I have the pnw stem with the build in mount that does not work lol. That feature was the main reason for purchase unfortunately. It mounts up to the gopro style mount but the weight of the light and plastic (light) to metal (pnw stem) interface is no Bueno. Light moves non stop. Gopro was fine but not the light. I'm gonna scuff up the alloy stem mount and see if it will hold before I give up and go to he supplied factory mount."
So after adding a small extension from a gopro angled up as far as possible and pnw up as far as possible light stays put! I thinks it's just the weight and stiff aluminum pnw mount not giving enough bite. But creating an s shape moves the pivot back and takes some leverage off the light either works great hasn't moved since kudos!
Lights are fantastic. I went with the hangover and evo. Almost at day time speeds.
If you are looking for best lights for your bike, I wouldn’t look any further. Yes, yes, they are cost more then what you have found on chinesium website, but you get what you pay for. And unless you want to start a fire, have no customer support and get crappy lights, sure go with whatever you have found. My experience with OL has been nothing but flawless and I paid full price cause I like to support companies that sweat over details of their products.
What do you get when your crew is rocking Portals on a night ride and your buddy's chain breaks while 15 miles deep into the National Forest? You have an extremely well-lit work area! Our lights had enough juice to pull off a 34-mile ride and a 30-minute chain repair to boot. Nice flex Outbound!
These lights are super bright and provided plenty of light in the dark forests of the PNW. They were shipped very quickly too!
This is the best light on the market, no contest. You can't put a price on safety. I have several others and they can't compete on the dispersion of the light, intensity, or battery run time. Would buy again.
I bought the detourafter a few months atfer it's first debut. I've had no problems with this light. Even in super rainy weather. I love the flash mode. It's not like other lights. On flash mode the light flashes and has a steady light at the same time. So gives you that sense of security when riding at night. It doesn't give that on and off look like strobe lights. When not on flash mode, the light gives you a wide field of view of the road surface ahead and sides. It doesn't give that tunnel view most lights give. I still have the first battery and corded version fo the of the outbound trail, and still use it till this day. But I finally purchased a trail evo. Can't wait to go out on the trails at night. My OG corded trail will be lent out to newbies. Keep up the good work Outbound! It is I who introduced your lights to my fellow bike riders here in Guam 🇬🇺.
